Piegan Pass Trail Details
This hike takes you through a variety of ecosystems as you climb from Siyeh Bend up to Piegan Pass. You'll have views of Jackson Glacier, as well as Blackfoot Glacier. Piegan Pass is the saddle between Piegan Mountain and Cataract Mountain. If you continue about another tenth-of-a-mile you'll get some of the best views of the hike. You'll be able to see Angel Wing, Bishops Cap, and Mount Gould along the Garden Wall, as well as views far into the valleys below. Piegan Pass also has a bell on it. It's one of four sites in the park with locomotive bells, based on an old Swiss custom of placing bells on mountain passes for hikers to ring. Glacier is grizzly country. Carry bear spray, make noise and travel in groups. Access is via the Siyeh Bend Trailhead.
