Logan Pass Visitor Center Details

Situated at the top of Going-to-the-Sun Road, the Logan Pass Visitor Center is open mid-June to mid-September. Inside, you'll find exhibits on the alpine zone plants and animals that live at 6,700-feet, where the visitor center is located. Rangers staff the visitor center to answer questions and help people plan trips. You can buy souvenirs in the gift shop, and there are also bathrooms and drinking water available. A boardwalk behind the center protects the tundra from human footsteps. There can be snow in this area even in the summer, so bring a jacket in case it's cold and windy. Keep your eyes open for wildlife. You might see mountain goats, big horn sheep, or even a grizzly bear. Stretch your legs by hiking to the Hidden Lake Overlook. It's less than three miles round-trip and offers a beautiful view of an alpine lake in the valley below. The visitor center is also a launching point for longer hikes like the Highline Trail. The center is a popular spot and parking often fills up by mid-morning. Consider taking one of the park's free shuttles here. In 2008, the visitor's center was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built during the "Mission 66" era, an effort to improve park facilities before the 50th anniversary of the National Park Service in 1966 and meet increasing visitor demand after World War II. The visitor center is considered an introduction of modern architecture in the park.
