Bicycling
Bicycles are permitted on all of Glacier's roads but are not allowed on trails, with a few exceptions.
Plan Around Bicycling
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Bicycling Details
Bicycles are permitted on all of Glacier's roads but are not on trails, with the exception of the paved path from Park Headquarters to Apgar Village, the Fish Creek Bike Path from Apgar Village to Fish Creek Campground, and the old Flathead Ranger Station trail. The Inside North Fork Road is also temporarily closed to vehicles between Camas Creek and Logging Creek, and makes for an excellent, though unpaved, bicycle route. Bicyclists must comply with all traffic regulations, and must ride under control at all times. Keep to the right side of the road, ride in single file, and pull over if four or more vehicles stack up behind you. When there's low visibility, and between sunset and sunrise, cyclists must have a white light or reflector visible from at least 500 feet in front, and a red light or reflector visible from at least 200 feet to the rear. Although not required, helmets are strongly recommended. To ease congestion from June 15 through Labor Day, Going-to-the-Sun Road is closed to bicycle use between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Apgar Campground to Sprague Creek Campground in both directions, and from Logan Creek to Logan Pass east-bound (uphill).
