Avalanche Campground Details
Nestled amid old-growth cedar and hemlock trees, Avalanche Campground is one of the park's most popular camping sites. The campground is first-come first-served and offers tent and RV sites, although only 50 of the 87 spots accommodate vehicles 26 feet long or longer. The campground has flush toilets and drinking water. There are picnic tables and fire rings at each camp site. Rangers hold programs nightly at the amphitheater. Individual sites accommodate a maximum of two tents each. Generators are permitted during limited hours. Glacier is bear country, and black bears and grizzlies can frequent the campground. Food must be properly stored at all times and garbage put in bear-proof trash cans. The campground opens in mid-June and closes in mid-September. It costs $20 a night. One site at Avalanche is handicap-accessible.
