Trail of the Cedars Details
This self-guided nature trail takes you through an old-growth cedar forest along a wheelchair accessible boardwalk. Stop and read the signs about the ecosystem and natural features in the area. This popular loop takes you by ancient trees and ferns and foliage, as well as to a footbridge over Avalanche Creek where you can see Avalanche Gorge, where turquoise glacial water carves through rock. This hike is so popular it can be hard to find parking. Plan on visiting it early or late in the day, or take one of the park's free shuttles. Glacier is grizzly country. Carry bear spray, make noise, and travel in groups. The trailhead is across from the Avalanche Creek Campground.
