Accessibility Details
Glacier National Park provides various accommodations and facilities to ensure visitors with disabilities can enjoy a rewarding experience. The park offers accessible campground facilities, with designated sites at Apgar, Avalanche, Fish Creek, Rising Sun, Sprague Creek, Two Medicine, and more. These sites are reserved for visitors with disabilities until other campsites are filled, aiming to ensure availability. For those who prefer indoor accommodations, Apgar Village, Lake McDonald Lodge, and Many Glacier have handicap-accessible rooms. These lodges, along with Village Inn, also feature accessible boat docks, enhancing the experience for visitors who want to explore the park's lakes. Accessible picnic areas, stores, and restaurants are located throughout the park, including at Apgar, Rising Sun, Sun Point, Lake McDonald Lodge, Many Glacier Hotel, and Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, providing a variety of dining and shopping options for all visitors. Glacier National Park has made efforts to ensure that trails are accessible as well. Trails like the Lake McDonald Trail, Trail of the Cedars Nature Trail, Oberlin Bend Trail, Goat Lick Overlook, Running Eagle Falls Nature Trail, and Swiftcurrent Nature Trail have been adapted with features such as wood/asphalt surfaces, metal-grated surfaces, and stabilized soil surfaces to accommodate visitors with mobility challenges. The park's shuttle service, operating from July through Labor Day, is handicap-accessible, stopping at various locations on and adjacent to Going-to-the-Sun Road, making it easier for visitors with disabilities to explore the park. Facilities such as restrooms and information centers are designed to be accessible, with ongoing improvements to meet or exceed ABA Standards. Audio and visual assistance services, including open-caption videos, sign language services, large-print brochures, audio-described videos, braille handouts, and programs for the visually impaired, are also available to enhance the experience for all visitors.
