Getting Here: Directions & Transportation Details
Gateway Arch, located in the heart of downtown St. Louis, Missouri, is one of the most accessible national parks in the country. Nestled along the Mississippi River, it's surrounded by major interstates-I-44, I-55, I-64, and I-70-making it an easy drive whether you're coming from across town or across state lines. Visitors arriving from Illinois can cross into downtown via the Poplar Street Bridge or Eads Bridge, both of which place you just minutes from the Arch. While the park doesn't have its own parking lot, nearby garages-like the Stadium East Parking Garage-are within easy walking distance. Air travelers can fly into St. Louis Lambert International Airport, about 17 miles northwest of the park. From there, the MetroLink light rail provides a smooth, car-free option to reach the Arch, with both the 8th & Pine and Laclede's Landing stations a 10-minute walk from the entrance. For those exploring more of the city, the park is also accessible via bus, rideshare, and even by bike or foot through nearby trails like the St. Louis Riverfront Trail. Getting here is simple, but timing and traffic can impact your visit-especially during sports games, large events, or festivals in the city. Plan to arrive early, especially if you've booked a timed tram ticket. With a little planning and flexibility, arriving at Gateway Arch is a breeze-and the view waiting at the top is well worth the trip.
