Kettle Falls Hotel Details
Construction on the Kettle Falls Hotel began in 1910, around the same time that the Kettle Falls Dam was being built. The original customers were the construction workers building the dam, as well as loggers, fur trappers, fishermen, and traders. Robert Williams purchased the hotel in 1918 and began transforming it into a fancier destination, with a reputation for fine comfort food, catering to the growing numbers of tourists frequenting the region. In the 1930s, heavy industry began to die out in the region, and tourism grew. Sport fishermen and their families came to the hotel for summer vacations. Advertisements from these early days touted the hotel as a "Hay Fever Victims Sanctuary," referring to the pure, pine-scented air that offered relief from seasonal allergies. Today, you can visit the hotel for an overnight stay or just for lunch, enjoy the same hearty fare as the area's first tourists, and take in the scenic views from the hotel's iconic veranda porch.
