Houseboating Details
Houseboats are another popular way to enjoy the park overnight, while maintaining the comforts of a real house. You can rent a houseboat through privately owned companies outside the park. Permits are required to bring a houseboat into the park, though the permits are free. You can get a permit at any park visitor center or from most houseboat outfitters. The park does have designated houseboat sites. You can also dock your houseboat in a non-designated site, as long as you pick a spot at least 200 yards away from a designated site. Starting in 2017 houseboaters will be required to make reservations, which will come with a fee. Right now, reservations are not required.
