Wood End Lighthouse Details
Lonely Wood End Light has stood watch over Provincetown Harbor since 1872; the 39-foot pyramidal tower is not open to the public, but you can tour the grounds by hiking half a mile across the breakwater at the end of Commercial Street in Provincetown's North End, then another three-quarters of a mile on a sandbar to the lighthouse. It's a four-hour roundtrip to an uninhabited part of the Cape, so wear lots of sunscreen, pack bug spray, and bring plenty of water if you go; otherwise, just enjoy the view of the lighthouse from the Plymouth ferry.
