Penniman House Details
This quintessential sea-captain's home was built in 1868 in Second Empire style and is a National Historic Site. Capt. Edward Penniman was a successful whaler who grew wealthy enough to build the first home in Eastham with indoor plumbing. After retiring at age 53, he lived in the home until his death in 1913 at age 80. Check out the massive whalebone arch at the gate before taking the free house tours; exhibits include Penniman family records and artifacts. Tours are offered seasonally, May through September.
