Nauset Trail Details

This paved (though relatively narrow) walking and biking trail leads 1.6 miles from the Salt Pond Visitor's Center to Coast Guard Beach. You'll have a relatively easy pedal up and down some short undulating hills through scrub forest until you traverse a pretty marsh bridge just before reaching the beach parking lot. The Doane Rock Picnic Area is about three-quarters of the way along if you want to stop for lunch. At Coast Guard Beach you can park your bike at the racks provided or pedal right down to the shore. Return back the way you came. To reach Nauset Trail from the Cape Cod Rail Trail, take Locust Road east, make a left onto Salt Pond Road, then -- carefully -- cross Route 6 to the Salt Pond Visitor's Center and the trailhead.
