Doanne Rock Details

The largest exposed glacial boulder on Cape Cod, Doane Rock is enduring evidence of the massive ice sheet that covered this area 18,000 years ago. Known as a "glacial erratic," this 18-foot-high rock was picked up and carried by the ice, then deposited near the coastline as the glacier melted and retreated. The rock is named for one of the original English settlers of Eastham; park at the Doane Rock Picnic Area if you want to get a closer look.
