Fort Hill Trail Details

The 1.5-mile Fort Hill Trail leads you around one of the oldest settled areas on Cape Cod, with open fields that allow for sweeping views of Nauset Marsh and Nauset Spit. Highlights include a stop at Penniman House, the home of a 19th-century whaling captain; and Indian Rock, still scarred with sharpening marks left by ancient hatchets and tools. The Fort Hill Trail connects to the Red Maple Swamp Trail and also to the Hemenway Landing boat dock, where you'll find seasonal restrooms. You can start your 1.5 mile hike from the landing, the Penniman House, or from the parking lot at the end of Fort Hill Road.
