Steedman Woods Nature Preserve

A small nature preserve located on a forested peninsula bound by the York River and Barrell's Mill Pond. The preserve includes a 1.4-mile loop trail. The highlight of this preserve is the Wiggly Bridge, which connects the nature preserve via a dike - both of which you have to cross. The bridge lives up to its name and is indeed wiggly as you cross over it. The dike was built in the early 18th century in order to service a sawmill and gristmill. In the 19th century, the pond was used a freshwater impoundment for cutting ice for the Boston Market. There are several parking spaces - permit and public - located on Route 103.
