Griggs Preserve Details

With unique tidal falls and an old railroad running through it, it is surprising the secluded getaway that the Griggs Preserve offers visitors. Totaling only fifty-two acres, the easy and moderate mile and a half pathways are open to most wildlife observers. Pileated woodpeckers, turkey, deer, squirrels, porcupines, and lush vegetation are the staples of this preserve sitting on the tidal waters of the Sheepscot River. Contrasting the routes surrounded by ferns and wildflowers, the views across the way are of saltmarsh and the birds and insects there. Note: the trailhead parking lot is located a short way down a private drive.
