Cape Elizabeth Light Station Details
The Cape Elizabeth Light Station, also known as "Two Lights," was built in 1828. One tower had a fixed beam and the other one flashing to help ships navigate the dangerous point. In 1924 the western tower was disconnected and eventually became privately owned, as it remains today. The eastern tower remains active and is maintained by American Lighthouse Foundation. Neither are accessible to the public. Interestingly, the famous painter Edward Hopper painted "Lighthouse at Two Lights" here.
