Dyer Point Details

This rocky finger is the easternmost point of Cape Elizabeth and offers seemingly endless views of the ocean. The spot is popular for birders and tourists. Also located here are twin lighthouses, known as the Cape Elizabeth Light Station, which were built in 1828. One tower had a fixed beam and the other one flashing. In 1924 the western tower was disconnected and eventually became privately owned, as it remains today. The eastern tower remains active and is maintained by American Lighthouse Foundation. Neither are accessible to the public. Interestingly, the famous painter Edward Hopper painted "Lighthouse at Two Lights" here. Facilities: Parking
