Seawall Campground Details
Seawall Campground, located on the west side of Mount Desert Island, provides a peaceful and scenic camping experience just four miles south of Southwest Harbor and approximately 18 miles from Bar Harbor. Nestled along Maine Route 102A, the campground offers easy access to Acadia's rugged coastline, with all campsites within a short walking distance of the shore. The campground operates from late May to mid October. Reservations are required and must be made in advance through Recreation.gov, as they are not available in person or at the campground office. Campsites are released in two phases: ninety percent are available six months in advance on the first of each month at 10 a.m. EST, while the remaining ten percent become available on a rolling basis fourteen days ahead of a desired arrival date. Same-day reservations can be made online if sites are available. Seawall Campground offers a range of camping options, including walk-in tent sites for $22 per night, drive-up tent and camper sites for $30 per night, and group tent sites for $60 per night. The campground is classified as a developed campground and provides accessible facilities, including designated ADA campsites, wheelchair-accessible restrooms, and a paved road leading to the amphitheater. The maximum RV and trailer length allowed is 20 feet due to the tight turning radius and back-in campsite design. Visitors exceeding these limits may be turned away upon arrival. To protect the surrounding vegetation, campers must adhere to these size restrictions. Seawall Campground remains closed during the off-season, from Columbus Day to the Wednesday before Memorial Day. It provides a serene alternative to the more crowded campgrounds in Acadia, offering a perfect base for exploring the park's natural beauty.
