Hiking
Pack, park, and hike! There are miles and miles of trails to explore in Acadia. Here are some tips.
Plan Around Hiking
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Hiking Details
There is no shortage of hiking in Acadia National Park. Acadia offers a vast network of hiking trails across Mount Desert Island, Schoodic Point, and a few surrounding islands, most prominently Isle au Haut. With over 120 miles of trails, ranging from easy interpretative walks to more rigorous climbs, you can find a hike for everyone in the Park. Remember to bring proper footwear and plenty of water. Although some hikes may appear short or straightforward, Acadia's rugged terrain requires extra caution and preparedness. Also, be sure to follow the blue trail blazes and cairns, as straying from the trails proves harmful to the delicate environment that sees millions of visitors every year.
