Camping Details

The park has two campgrounds on Mount Desert Island, one campground on the Schoodic Peninsula, and five lean-to shelters on Isle au Haut. The two main campgrounds are Blackwoods and Seawall. Both campgrounds offer wooded sites within a short walk of the ocean. There are campsites for tents, pop-ups, vehicle campers, and RVs up to 35 feet long. Both campgrounds provide bathrooms, cold running water, dump stations, picnic tables, fire rings, and water faucets. There are no hookups, however. You can buy firewood and other camping supplies at supply stores located within a half-mile of each campground. Blackwoods is open year-round, but Seawall is only open from late May to Sept. 30. Reservations can be made by calling 877-444-6777 or obtained online at www.recreation.gov. Schoodic Woods Campground is located on the Schoodic Peninsula section of the park - an hour drive from the Hulls Cove Visitor Center on Mount Desert Island. Duck Harbor Campground is located on Isle au Haut a remote and rugged island inaccessible to automobiles. The campground is linked to the mainland by mailboat.
