Plan Around Bike Rentals
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Bike Rentals Details
Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Southwest Harbor have bicycle rentals. In Bar Harbor, most bicycle rental companies send visitors to the fare-free Bicycle Express shuttle at the Village Green. During the summer months the shuttle runs every 1/2 hour and drops you at the Eagle Lake carriage roads - an excellent starting point. If you don't want to take the Bicycle Express back to town, or miss the last bus, it's recommended you NOT take Route 233. There is no median as you approach town, and traffic can be heavy and fast. You should follow the carriage roads to Duck Brook Bridge (signpost #5), and then take a left on Duck Brook Road, and left on West Street Extension and follow it back into town. To see the Bicycle Express shuttle schedule, be sure to check out the Shuttle section of the Chimani app or select the Related Points of Interest tab listed in this section.
