Alder Trail Details

This trail, although technically separate from the Schoodic Head Trail, really acts as an access trail to Schoodic Head trail and the top of Schoodic Head. The .6-mile trail begins at the Blueberry Hill parking area, and continues along a grassy path, surrounded by cedar, ash and birch trees. As you hike, you'll pass a beaver pond and alder trees, which feature small woody cones and favor moist areas, so you may run into some soggy spots. After .6 miles, the Alder Trail meets up with the Schoodic Head Trail; continue on for another .6 miles to reach the top of Schoodic Head and then return along the same path, or make a loop of it and return to the parking area via the Anvil Trail.
