Plan Around Tours
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Tours Details
Tours are a huge part of the Mammoth Cave National Park experience -- you literally cannot visit the cave unless you take a tour, and fees are charged for all underground tours. Tours run every day of the year, excluding Christmas Day. There is a wide variety of tours and programs offered throughout the year, with a schedule that changes each season. The park operates the largest number and variety of tours during spring (March to June) and summer (June to August), but also has more limited programs during the fall and winter. Each tour is led by park staff and may take place within the cave or above ground. In addition to cave tours, above ground tours focus on topics that include birding, waterfall hikes, geology tours, and nature hikes; these ranger-led tours are free. Reservations are highly recommended for cave tours, especially during the busier spring and summer seasons. Call 270-758-2180 for the current schedule and to make a reservation.
