Heritage Trail Details
Starting at the Mammoth Cave Hotel, the Heritage Trail leads towards the river and reaches Sunset Point after a half-mile. To continue towards the river, descend on the Sunset Point Trail, or just spend some time at the viewpoint and continue around the loop part of the trail, which encircles the Old Guides Cemetery. At the bottom of the loop, you'll meet back up with the original trail and re-trace your steps back to the hotel. This is a wheelchair-accessible trail. There are often ranger-led programs on this trail, so check with the visitor center for the current schedule for a more in-depth look at the area's history. The trail also is open to horse use.
