Salt Lick and Johnson Trail Loop Details

Located on a 600-acre nature and water reserve, this tough 3-mile trail starts right off the bat with a steep climb towards the rocky bluffs. However, it soon flattens out and provides sweeping views over the farms and grasslands off in the distance. This area was once used for coal mining, and there are a few remaining relics scattered around the trail. You will see several refuse piles as well as numerous mind shaft openings (although you are not allowed to go near or access them).
