Oakwood Beach Details

This is one of Chicago is newest beaches, although it is quickly becoming a popular spot amongst locals and tourists alike. It boasts 1,300-feet of powdery white sand where you can spend the day lounging, sunbathing, or swimming (but only when a lifeguard is present). One of the highlights is the secret mermaid statue that sits towards the right-hand side of the beach. This sculpture was carved over the course of nine days by guerilla artists who snuck onto the beach after hours. Many believe that if you sit on the stone and make a wish it will come true over the course of the next few months!
