The gigantic 200-foot walls of sandstone cradle the sides of Lush Creek as it twists and turns through this 906-acres of untouched wilderness. It became a designated National Natural Landmark in 1980 after ten different endangered and threatened plant species were found growing in the area. For the best views of the canyon, take the 5-mile Indian Kitchen trailhead that leads along the banks of the creek. Because it is flowing throughout the year, this area is a popular spot for whitewater rafters. Thrill-seekers will love the fantastic canyon views as they hop and plunge through the Class II whitewater rapids.
