If there's one thing Haleakala National Park is known for, it's amazing views. Viewing the sunrise at the summit is the primary motivation for many visits to the park, so it's important to arrive early enough to secure parking if you're self-driving. There are many Maui companies offering tours to the summit for the sunrise view as well, and some allow you to bike down the mountain afterward, if you're interested. The view from atop Haleakala is spectacular all day, however, not just at sunrise - the visual horizon in the summit area is up to 115 miles out to sea. Sunset and night skies are also spectacular at Haleakala.
