Tugaloo State Park Details

Tugaloo State Park's name comes from the Indian word for the river that once flowed through the area. After the construction of Hartwell Dam, the land became a sizeable 55,590-acre reservoir that is today known as Lake Hartwell. The park sits on a peninsula of the lake and offers cottages, boat ramps, and primitive camping for guests. The lake is well-known for its spectacular year-round fishing and tournaments are often held here. Hiking trails will take visitors through hardwood forests filled with mulberry, cherry, oak, and walnut trees.
