In fact, there are over 20 designated swim areas along the 680 miles of shoreline. River Forks Park near Gainesville has a spacious beach with picnic pavilions, campsites, volleyball courts, and playgrounds. Or you can go to Little Hall Park, which is a great local hangout for families and BBQ cook-outs. Lanier Park is also a popular choice for swimmers, as it has a wide stretch of white beach as well as boat launches and walking trails.
