Fort Yargo State Park Details
Fort Yargo originated from an area of land where three men came to trade beads and cloth with the native Americans. They eventually formed a friendship and exchanged goods for the property, hence the name beadland. Immediately afterward they set up a small settlement and were commissioned to build four forts in the nearby area, one of which was Fort Yargo. Today there is still a log fortification that was created for protection by the settlers in 1792. The park is also popular for its large lake and many outdoor recreational activities such as disc golf and glamping facilities.
