If you are visiting Athens, then this 3.5-mile trail is a leisurely ride for all cyclists of all skill levels. It winds along its namesake river and past several different green parks until it reaches the Sandy Creek Nature Center. It is worth stopping off and wandering through the 225-acre property to see native woodland and wetland habitats. The visitor center also has live reptile and amphibian exhibits that adults and kids can both enjoy.
