Fort Mountain State Park Details
Shrouded in mystery, Fort Mountain State Park is a total of 3,712 acres and is home to the forests of the Cohutta Wilderness, 60 miles of hiking trails, a 17-acre mountain lake, a stone fire tower, and an 885-foot long rock wall that no one is entirely sure of the origin. The wall is built from surrounding mountain stone and has pits and an old gateway. The source and date of construction are, as of so far, undeterminable, but ideas of its construction range from prehistoric natives, Welsh explorers, the Cherokee's "moon-eyed people," and even conquistadors.
