Tamiami Trail Details
The Tamiami Trail is a scenic byway taking travelers across the coastal prairie of the Everglades; the east-west road connects Tampa and Miami and passes through the Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park. If you're visiting the Everglades by car, driving the Tamiami Trail is a must. There's lots to do and see along this stretch of road, including visiting the Big Cypress Welcome Center in Ochopee; exploring small-town life in Choloskee and Everglades City (there are local seafood restaurants, boat rentals, and camping available in both); stopping at renowned photographer Clyde Butsher's Big Cypress Gallery; and traveling the Loop Road, a 26-mile gravel track through Big Cypress National Preserve with opportunities to see wildlife.
