Overview Details
Water activities are most popular at Dry Tortugas. The park is located nearly 70 miles west of Key West. These activities include boating, snorkeling, diving, and swimming. Due to being so remote, the park also provides a very primitive camping experience. Its 100-square mile area only contains seven small islands and is only accessible by boat or seaplane. The park is home to Fort Jefferson, pristine blue waters, coral reefs, marine life and a variety of bird life. **Date Formed:** January 4, 1935 **Area:** 64,701 acres [https://www.nps.gov/drto](https://www.nps.gov/drto)
