Plan Around Fishing
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Fishing Details
Recreational fishing is allowed from a few select park locations. These Garden Key locations include south of the North Coaling Ruins to the beginning of the land bridge; the seaplane beach east of the main dock, when the seaplane isn't present; the main dock, when the Yankee Freedom isn't present; the two westernmost finger piers; and either dinghy beach so long as you don't fish within 50 feet of the concrete wall. Fishing is not allowed in the Research Natural Area. Lobster collecting and spearfishing are prohibited throughout the park. Fishers arriving by boat must file a boat permit upon arrival at Garden Key. A Florida saltwater license is required to fish for everyone except kids ages 15 and under and Florida resident seniors.
