Boca Chita Key Details

Boca Chita Key, accessible only by boat, is the most popular of all the islands in Biscayne National Park, and there are plenty of reasons why. The 65-foot lighthouse was built in the 1930s and is open for climbing when park staff or volunteers are on the island. From the observation deck, the views of the islands, bay, ocean, and the skyline of Miami, Key Biscayne, and Miami Beach can't be beat. Back on the ground, a half-mile walking trail leads to the south end of the island and to a campground complete with picnic tables, grills, and restrooms. It's easy to spend a day or more on Boca Chita Key. Campsites are nestled next to the beach in a grassy area and are $25 per night (you must be pay in cash). You cannot make reservations, so show up early to ensure you get a campsite. Be sure to bring your own drinking water to Boca Chita Key too, as there is no fresh water on the island.
