Streams, Lakes, & Waterfalls Details
There are a number of spectacular water features in Rocky Mountain National Park, and most are easily accessible and very enjoyable. Even the most tranquil stream or pond, however, can be deceptively dangerous. Swimming is generally discouraged, and it is recommended that visitors keep a distance from streams, lakes, and waterfalls unless there are appropriate areas from which the water can be approached. During the winter months, ice is always thinner near inlets and outlets, as well as over fast moving water. Always cross ice with extreme caution. All water intended to be drunk should be purified to prevent giardiasis.
