High Elevations Details
Rocky Mountain National Park features a number of popular attractions and features at higher elevations, many of which are easily accessible by most visitors. Due to the varying elevations of certain areas visitors with heart problems or other concerns should check with a doctor before visiting the park. High elevations can also increase the risks of dehydration, sunburn, nausea, and altitude sickness. It is recommended that visitors adjust to the high altitudes by walking shorter, easier trails before attempting longer or more difficult excursions, drinking lots of nonalcoholic fluids, getting plenty of rest, and eating several light, healthy meals or snacks throughout the day. There is no cure for altitude sickness other than to go down to a lower elevation.
