Farview Curve Details
The Colorado River flows through the Kawuneeche Valley, just five miles from its source at La Poudre Pass, on its way to the Grand Canyon and, eventually, the Gulf of California 1,400 miles away. A glacier 2,500 feet thick once flowed through this valley, rising to about the height of the treeline at 11,500 feet. Long after the ice retreated, men carved the Grand Ditch along the Never Summer Mountains here to capture meltwater for use in turn-of-the-century farms in the Great Plains. You can see it from here and other places in the Kawuneeche Valley.
