It is formed by travertine deposition of limestone rock which gives the rocks it is layered shape. Because of its unique appearance, it is quite a popular destination for hikers and tourists. If you are planning to make the trek up to the lake, you will need a permit in order to access the 3.2-mile-long trailhead. Although swimming is prohibited, you will still be able to marvel at the contrasting colors and lush garden foliage that makes this lake a stunning natural landmark.
