Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway Details
This historic 102-mile byway is more than just a scenic backdrop for a leisurely drive (although the wildflower meadows and 100-mile long Sangre de Cristo Mountains are pretty spectacular). It also happens to be one of the more historic routes in the state, as the region was inhabited by fur trappers, pioneers, Ute Indians, and Spanish settlers. It travels up north from Colorado City to Pueblo, while making a short detour stopover in Westcliffe. It is worth popping over to the San Isabel National Forest if you are looking for a tranquil place to see diverse landscapes and wildlife.
