Rim Rock Nature Trail Details

The Rim Rock Nature Trail is a self-guided hike along the south rim of Black Canyon to the Tomichi Point overlook. The trail is generally flat, and there is almost no elevation change as it travels north from South Rim Campground to the overlook. There are great views of the Gunnison River from the trailside, and the Tomichi Point overlook yields panoramic views down the long, narrow canyon. This sunny, sagebrush-lined trail is accompanied by informative plaques detailing the natural and cultural histories of the South Rim. The trailhead is at the South Rim Campground, Loop C, but the trail can also be accessed from the South Rim Visitor Center.
