Tenaya Lake Details

This is one of Yosemite's few easily accessible lakes, and you can picnic, sunbathe, swim or canoe while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding domes, mountains, and forests. There are two picnic areas here. The 1.6-mile long lake is named for Chief Tenaya of the Ahwahneechee tribe, though the tribe itself called it Pie-we-ack, or "Lake of the Shining Rocks." There's an easy, 2.5-mile loop trail that you can hike for beautiful views from various vantage points around the lake.
