Clouds Rest Details
A strenuous hike that ends with one of the most rewarding views in Yosemite. Due to its elevation gain and distance, this hike is not for the casual hiker. It is, however, a seasonal destination for those who frequently return to Yosemite - and the view from Clouds Rest is one of the reasons why so many do. From the top, you'll have amazing views of Half Dome, Tenaya Lake, Mount Hoffman, Sentinel Dome, North Dome, and Merced Lake. Trailhead: The Sunrise Lakes Trailhead is located southwest of Tenaya Lake and has parking for a dozen or so vehicles. This trailhead serves trails to Sunrise Lakes, Clouds Rest, and the backcountry campground of Sunrise Camp. Like many of the trails off Tioga Road, you'll have to wait until the road opens for the season. This is stop #10 for the free Tuolumne Meadows Shuttle Bus. Restrooms: There is a small semi-permanent pit toilet located at the trailhead parking lot.
