Hiking Details

Hiking is the thing to do in Yosemite National Park. Waterfalls, alpine meadows, lakes, tall trees, mountains are intertwined with the over 800 miles of trails that wind through this iconic American park. Regardless of your skill or comfort level, you will find a trail that suits you--be it a paved walkway with interpretive guides or a trek over a mountain and through the woods, Yosemite has it all. It's easiest to breakdown Yosemite into a different sections for exploration. 1) Yosemite Valley: This is the most popular part of Yosemite, so don't expect to escape the crowds on many of the trails around here. However, you will find some of the most photographed and famous parts of the park in the valley, including Half Dome, El Capitan, Mist Trail, Bridalveil Falls and Tunnel View. 2) Tioga Pass Road: Tioga Road offers more hikes than any other part of the park, so this is a great place to come if you are looking to "get away". And, as with most of Yosemite, there is something for everyone. Embark on the difficult, but stunning Clouds Rest trail for stunning vistas or saunter around the .25-mile Olmsted Point, which is just as beautiful. 3) Wanwona Road and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias: The name says it all here. According to many, these Giant Sequoias are the most famous group of trees in the world. Go check them out. 4) Glacier Point Road: For you thrill seekers, make your way to Glacier Point Road and explore any of the "Point: trails for epic views of the Yosemite Valley's sheer walls. Beware though, if you are afraid of heights, you will certainly be tested here.
