Columbia Rock Details
Located just over halfway up the Upper Yosemite Falls Trail, this viewpoint allows you to sample views, drops, and switchbacks without having to commit to an entire hike. Even through the falls are never visible from this point on their namesake trail, majestic vistas of the tumultuous Merced River and the immense peaks of Half Dome and the Cathedral Spires make this a must-stop. The trail to the viewpoint is short, but loaded with switchbacks, and makes for a great mini-hike. Like many of Yosemite's trails, it can be inundated with crowds, so be aware of that.
