Kid-Friendly Options Details

Kids on family visits to Sequoia and Kings Canyon will find a number of programs specifically designed for them, and if you've got a fourth-grader with you, they (and the rest of the family) can get into the park free through the Every Kid in a Park program. Inside the parks, rangers present free, interpretive programs for families throughout the year, as well as Kids Campfire Talks in the summer. Visitor centers have details. Kids ages five and up can also participate in the Junior Ranger Program; pick up a free Junior Ranger booklet at any visitor center and complete the activities inside to earn your badge. You can also get a copy of Sequoia Seeds, a newspaper about the park designed specifically for kids. Finally, if visiting during the winter, there are sledding hills two miles north of the General Sherman Tree in the Wolverton area.
