Hotel Creek Trail Details
Tackle this trail when it's cool in the morning. The 7.2-mile loop trail climbs 1,500 feet up the relatively dry, south-facing side of the canyon. Beginning near the Cedar Grove Lodge, the hike offers excellent, long-distance views up and down the gorge. You'll climb first through the pine woods on the canyon floor before heading up through sunny chaparral. The best scenery of the loop lies ahead, where the chaparral gives way to a sparse forest of ponderosa pines. As you approach the Lewis Creek Trail, you'll enjoy views of the scenic Lewis Creek drainage, dotted with pine trees.
